Looking at little bun rummaging through his ever-growing toy basket (this is one of his TWO toy baskets in the house, and it is excluding the toys that are too big to fit into the basket.. PLUS he has double this amount of toys over at Grandma's Daycare. This is one spoiled kiddo!!). The sight of him kneeling by his toy basket made me realize that he is no longer a baby!! He looked so grown-up from afar... **wistful sigh** Where has my little baby?

Good that little bun is showing interest in his book... NOT good when the book is upside-down.

Life's a Beach

We had dinner at East Coast and after that we decided to go for an impromptu stroll along the beach. It was cut short prematurely cos 1) we had eaten way too much for our own good and our buldging stomachs were too heavy to lug around  2) there were too many people cycling.. this is not a 'problem' per se... the real problem is that the cyclists of all ages are going in all directions and making it a hazard for pedestrians (like moi) to take a leisurely stroll  3) there were too many people blading with their in-line skates. It was frustrating trying to enjoy the scenery and having to lookout for cyclists/ skaters to avoid a collision.

**start of whine** I really miss the white sandy beaches in Australia.. especially St Kilda beach with its weekend markets, beachside restaurants and fine white sand.. How come sand on our beaches here is so coarse?!! It's rather sad that the view from our beach consists of big tankers with cargo containers stacked high. So much for trying to gaze into the non-existent horizon. Singapore beaches are also horribly overcrowded (just like it's shopping malls, public transport, etc). It's hard to find a quiet spot spend some quality time with my boys (boys = Mark and little bun) because there are people everywhere!!!   **end of whine**

Little bun sitting between my Lucas teddy and Chloe teddy.. Wouldn't this be a perfect photo if the 2 teddies are replaced by the real-life Lucas and Chloe? **insert wistful sigh**

Aftermath

48 hours after THE FALL and little bun's injury is manifesting into this red blotch on his nose. Thankfully it's nothing too serious, just a little scrape/ bruise but I still feel so guilty for not taking good care of him. Strangely enough, it seems like he didn't hit his head/ forehead, which is a good sign. Mummy's poor little bun...

Bruised Bun

My poor little bun launched himself off our bed yesterday. Mark and I take the full blame and responsibility for it cos we have been careless and complacent.. we really should have been more careful since little bun had started crawling with gusto. My fearless little warrior had only learnt to pull himself to a standing position a week ago but he's already been trying to let go of his support already.. How can I teach him to take it slow and easy?

Mark and I REALLY have to keep BOTH eyes on him from now on.

Fortunately his 'battle scar' from the fall wasn't as bad as I'd feared. He seemed to have visible bruises on his nose (yes, nose.. I don't know why). I'd have thought he'd get a bump on his forehead but nope... forehead looks fine. Anyway, being the paraniod parents that we are, we took him to the hospital to have him checked by the professionals.. what's a bit of money for a peace of mind right?

Considering the height of our bed (we have a 16' mattress plus a equally high, if not higher, bed frame), we were extremely lucky that little bun's injuries are very mild and superficial. Definitely a lesson learnt.

These were taken while we were on our way to the hospital. (It still didn't look bad at that time.. this morning the redness has darkened and looks a lot worse but it's still a surface wound so I'm not complaining). It doesn't seem to be bothering him much, which is a good sign.. but oh.. my heart hurts everytime I see my little 'Rudolph'.

And this is the project that Mark and I embarked on once we got home... lay the floor with padding (only halfway through here)..

Introducing the love of my life (sorry hubby) and the bane of my life (sorry son)!! He is the reason why I wake up with a smile every morning and why I go to bed totally exhausted and worn out, but extremely happy and content every single night. He's only been in my life for a mere 8.5 months, but looking back, I wonder how I lived my life before he made his grand entrancse (ok basically I was a pathetic mess then).. and looking forward, I wonder how my life is going to be now that he's here. There's SO much that I want to do with him and for him.

Little Bun's 1st Tooth

Guess who has just sprouted his first tooth?!!

I just noticed the little-lest bit of white emerging from his bottom gums today... I felt it with my finger and it's definitely someone's first tooth (could be teeth.. I can't be sure cos I seem to have felt at least 3 'possibilities')!!

Poor little bun... no wonder he'd been rather grouchy lately and salivating a whole lot.

Never knew I can find so much joy from simply watching little bun play with his (rather expensive)fleet of vehicles. Each vehicle plays 2-3 songs and for the record, Mark and I can sing some of them quite well, especially the one from the 'Yellow Car'.

"I'm a car, a yellow car, toot-toot, beep-beep. A marvelous, speedy car!"

This could be one of Apple's youngest fan. Little bun LOVES using Mark's iPad and will make a beeline for it when he sees it. He already has a couple of favourite apps. Other than this one on alphabets (which is rather boring) as there is no sound, he also likes 'Talking Tom'. There's also another one on farm animals where you can tap on the icon and it makes the sound the corresponding animal makes. It makes it seem like I am living on a farm sometimes.. LOL!!

Little Bun is 8 Months Old!!

Champion turns 8 months old today!!! Little bun has reached all his developmental milestones right on cue and he's recently started crawling. Mark and I are also suspecting that he may be teething very soon (excess drooling, restlessness at night, etc). It's a joy to see his little diapered-bum raised high in the air while he is trying to co-ordinate himself and move forward (backwards sometimes).

His newly-acquired crawling skills is making us busier than usual because it means that we cannot leave him unattended anymore. 2 days ago, little bun almost crawled himself off our bed. I managed to grab onto his thigh in the nick of time. That was a really close shave cos our bed is higher than usual as we have a thicker mattress (getting a thick mattress seemed like a good thing when we first bought it, but now I wish we had gotten something 'normal'). I'd have hated myself if little bun fell off the bed right under my nose (and Mark would have given me hell)!

In other news, we have started little bun on formula milk about 2 weeks ago and while it took a while for him to like this new taste, he's now doing a lot better and accepting it more readily. Currently we are still mixing it. We started off with 10% formula; 90% breastmilk, and we are now at 50% formula; 50% breastmilk. I'd have loved to be able to continue giving him breastmilk till he is 1 year old, but alas... having a job means I don't have the luxury of expressing the breastmilk 2 times a day while I am in the office. Supplies have also diminished because I am not expressing as often as I'd like to. **sigh** 8 months is nowhere near my target of 1 year, but my only consolation is I managed to meet the minimum target that I have set at 6 months.
