Daddy is having his beer, and little bun is having... ummm... water. 

Happy boy taking a ride on one of the many birthday presents he received... he was mighty pleased with his new set of the Winnie the Pooh on wheels!! (Believe it or not, we actually haven't finished opening up all the new toys yet!!).

Nothing, and I mean NOTHING, can come between a (alcohol) thirsty man and his glass of ice cold beer on a Sunday, including a sleeping toddler!!

(I was not with them as I went grocery shopping, but Mark told me that he copped many amused stares and smiles from the people who saw them.. After a while, Mark started telling people "Yeah, he had a drop too much!!").. Starting young huh?

Little bun's latest favourite spot in my bedroom. I guess he can watch the activities happening downstairs (there is a little playground right in front of my balcony), or perhaps the trees/ birds outside, or is it the people walking by... Okay we have no clue. 

Look who has just learnt how to drink using a straw!! 

I know of many parents who 'train' their kids to drink using straws before they turn one, but I figured it didn't matter to me/little bun whatever age he acquires this skill. Hence, I wasn't overly concerned or conscientious about it and treated it like a 'game'. Usually, he was more interested on chewing on the straw.. I guess he was still unable to figure out what the long, plastic thing is for. 

Out of the blue on Sunday morning when we were all out for brekkie, I asked Mark to try giving him some water using the straw, and all of a sudden it was like 'eureka' for him and he just figured it out! He had this look of wonderment and amusement on his face when he sucked his first mouthful of water from the straw.. hehehe! From that moment on, there was no stopping him. I think he drank twice his normal daily intake of water because he was fascinated with this new-found discovery.

A single smile from this little boy makes my heart glow with love and contentment.

Father and son engrossed watching some programme on the telly. I cannot get over how similar/alike those are... Their looks, behaviours, mannerisms, expressions, etc.. totally a chip off the old block.

Soooooo incredibly proud of my champion. He is due for his 1 year vaccination today and I dragged Mark along with us as I was terrified that little bun would be inconsolable after the 2 injections and I won't be able to handle or calm him down. All my worries were unfounded!! 

He merely gave a little whimper each time the injections went in and yelled his protest for no more than 10 seconds before it went back to 'business as usual'. The added bonus was we bumped into Dr Anu too and little bun happily played and laughed with her, proudly showing off his 8 teefies and his newly acquired skill, i.e. his signature 'robotic laugh'. Even the nurses were tickled by his antics and cheekiness and kept playing with him. I am super glad it is over and it went so well.

Ok, another 3 months before the follow up vaccination. 

Somebun feel asleep midway through rolling around on the bed. Didn't know this can be so tiring..  It sure is hard work being a baby!!

It was a long weekend so Mark and I spent 3 solid days of quality and quantity time with little bun. Wouldn't it be wonderful if ALL weekends are 3 days instead of 2?!! 

We took little bun to the pool since the weather was very hot and sunny.. my little champion had a whale of a time splashing around. We have noticed subtle changes in his behaviour too.. he's a lot more gutsy and willing to venture farther on his own without us beside him. At one stage, he even showed his 'displeasure' at Mark when Mark was holding onto his float (cos we were afraid he'd tip over as he was leaning very far out). 

Sigh... my little bun is growing up fast!!

My 2 boys... They are the reason why I wake up everyday with a smile on my face and a spring in my step!!

Cheeky Bun!

Little bun was in an extremely good and playful mood last evening... He kept pulling funny faces at us just to laugh at our reactions!!

Playing with his new toy that Mark bought him on his birthday... This is the toy du jour until he gets a new toy or if he destroys this one!!

Is it any wonder why Mark and I have been waking up with terrible stiff necks/headaches at least 2-3 times a week? Little bun is terrible when he is sleeping.. seems to be like he is a gymnast and/or practising kung-fu while asleep!! Usually Mark has to wake up in the middle of the night to adjust little bun's position so that we both can sleep better. I have found myself balancing precariously on the edge of the bed numerous times, or found myself being kicked in the ribs/stomach by my son's karate kick.

Ahhh.. the joys of parenthood... =)

Hershey is a lot more tolerant towards little bun's inquisitive fingers than Huskee is (especially when there is food involved). These days I can hardly snack in peace without one or both of them staring at me. Hershey has also found out that it is very rewarding for her to hang out wherever we are feeding little bun cos there will be food dropping onto the floor!!

All the remote controls in this house are beginning to malfunction... and I am not the slightest bit surprised!! 'Somebun' loves playing with remote controls...

He is looking more and more mischievous and cheeky by the day... In these pictures, he was lovingly trying to gouge the eyes/nose out of the poor rabbit. 

Little Bun's 1st Birthday

Hard to believe that 365 days have passed since Mark and I first laid eyes on our brawling, red-faced infant. He has transformed from a needy and totally dependent little being to today's mischievous and very active toddler who is learning and amazing us everyday with the things that he learns.

Mark and I took the day off today to celebrate our precious son's first birthday with him. We spend priceless quality time as a family.. Never would I have imagined that I'd live to see this day. Never expected that we would be parents celebrating our child's birthday. The pain of my losses is still so real, and unbelievably raw, even until today. It still tears me up when I see certain 'triggers' that remind me of my Angels.

These are all the presents little bun received.. we have one totally spoiled bun!! 

It took Mark and I a while to finish opening up all the presents... Little bun now has enough clothes to last him till he is 2 years old and enough toys to make our living room resemble a nursery!! His 'little' corner for toys had been expanding it is gradually taking over our living room space. 

Little Bun is ONE Year Old!!

The last 3 weeks that I have spent planning and organizing little bun's birthday party was all over in a flash yesterday. We invited a small(ish) group of family and close friends over to celebrate little bun's 1st birthday with us in advance since the actual day falls on a weekday. Mark and I have taken the day off on this Thur to spend the day with our birthday boy.

Mark and I (little bun too) were totally/ utterly knackered by the time the party was over, but it was really fun and worth every bit of the tiredness. 4 years ago after I lost Lucas, I would never imagine that there'd be a day I'd be celebrating the 1st birthday of my own child. Things got even bleaker after I lost Chloe and I subsequently had to struggle for a long time with my (lack of) fertility. Having a child seem to be the most impossible thing ever... let alone celebrating his first birthday. 

So yesterday was like a dream come true... a miracle has happened and my precious little boy has been with us for one year! Such an amazing and wondrous feeling.. rather surreal too. Have you ever had a dream and then find yourself in a real-life situation that is exactly like what happened in the dream? That was how I felt like yesterday.
